The more personal children experience nature, the more environmentally concerned and active they are likely to become.
At Tawa Montessori Preschool we help children to develop a loving relationship with the natural environment, we nurture their biophilia or love for the earth.
An important goal of our outdoor environment is teaching environmental stewardship. We introduce the children to the interconnectedness and inter-dependence of everything on the planet, developing tools for environmental responsibility, ecological under standing and recycling awareness. The children have many opportunities to explore the wonders of plants, bushes, trees and flowers. They learn how they affect the environment as well as how the environment affects them.
