Children have the need to find meaning in their lives, the need to question why they are here and why the world exists as it does. They need reassurance that what they do matters. They need to know why it is better to act in one way and not in another. They have the need for something beyond themselves and the physical world, the need to connect to the universe.
When a child picks up a worm, pulls apart a daisy or chases a butterfly, a child is showing us little miracles of life that we have long since taken for granted. We have to protect the child from being trampled on and to nourish its natural growth.
